Streambanks

Featured Project

Project: Teton River Reed Canary Grass Competition
Location: Driggs, ID
Client: Intermountain Aquatics
Date: 09/2005

Challenge:
The plant community adjacent to the re-constructed stream bank was solid reed canary grass. Reed canary grass’s aggressive nature typically takes over freshly disturbed restoration sites and is very difficult to control.y difficult to control

Solution:
Wetland Sod was chosen to rapidly establish a diverse sedge and rush community that could out-compete the reed canary grass. One year, post planting the bank is stabilized with sedges and rushes and the reed canary grass has not colonized where the Wetland Sod mats were planted.
